Passenger front bushing Empty Passenger front bushing

    Post by millwright71 Tue Nov 05, 2013 7:22 am

I have been searching for a few days for replacement information for the larger passenger front spring bushing for my 66 Chevy. Does anyone happen to have a polyurethane replacement that works? I saw the excellent post from Donivan that details the numbers for all the others I need, unless someone has some part numbers from places like Summit, or Jegs. Any help will be greatly appreciated like always.

That oversized bushing on some vans is a #2061,,,,,,,and you need a 9/16" bolt sleeve like you use on the normal polyurethane replacement bushings,,,,,

I will do that if I do. Still on the fence about possibly just replacing all of the spring assemblies.

Anyone know why some vans came with a large spring bushing on the passenger side?! That seems so odd to me. Don says he's seen a few like that.

,,,,most likely to compensate for the engine and trans being closer to the right side,,,,,,

That bushing pushes the spring down about 1/4", so that probably keeps the right side of the van from sagging,,,,,,the vans did come with optional springs,,,,,,and maybe the different engine/transmission combinations determined what springs it got,,,,,,,,and does the Official Licensed spring makers take into consideration that the engine  sits closer to the right front spring than from the left,,,,,,do they provide a left and right spring,,,,, do people know to install the correct spring on the correct side,,,,,what a Mystery Machine,,,,,,,

Most of us don't learn about the offset engine until we try to fit a new seat in the passenger side!

The new springs are set to be made this week! I will know really soon if they are made to factory specs like advertised. Pics to follow. Knee deep in a complete suspension, brake rebuild/upgrade to discs now. I know they are being delivered with a complete set of HB930 shackle bushings as well.
