HELP- What year is my Dodge A100

the sixth didget yours is an 8 must be a 68

where is the ingnition key at ??? does it have side reflectors?? or side lights does it have a dash pad on the passenger side??

As said, there are visual clues to determine year.

I've supplied the year breakdowns to the site mods, but it still isn't posted...



For 1964-1969 models, the first 2 digits of the number indicate the model.
18=A-100 pickup
19=A-100 van
20=A-100 Wagon
The 3rd digit indicates the number of cylinders (6 or .
The 4th digit indicates the assembly plant.
Most light duty A-series Compacts or D-series pickups were built at the Warren Truck Plant, Warren, Michigan (#1) the other possibility is the Missouri Truck Plant, St. Louis, Missouri (#7).
The 5th thru 10th digits are the sequence number.

For 1970 models, the first 2 digits indicate the model A1=A-100 and A-108.
The 2nd digit indicates body line
• 1 = Compact Cab
• 2 = Tradesman Van
• 3 = Low Line Wagon
• 4 = Hi Line Wagon
• 5 = Mid Line Wagon

So yours being A1A2S87207
does not make sense....
Closest is 1970, A1, but then has a number, not an alpha...

Here is a photo of the dash and my VIN tag ( the only tag that was on it) It was by the drivers wheel when you open the door. There are no side markers or side lights. Not sure if the tag was changed the previous owner is deceased. Registerd currently as a 1969.

Brake warning light, key on the left, remnants of a crash pad all point to a 67-70.
Doors should have an inside pull inward handle, not the pull back handle.
The Green looks nice!
The suspect digit A1[?} would be easier to figure out with a full picture of the side. Perhaps it's a 4, which would indicate • 4 = Hi Line Wagon.

This would be a van with all windows, chrome strips on the top and bottom of the cove area, badges behind the doors and maybe even chrome bumpers/grille.
A 1970 would also have the rectangle side marker lights in the front doors and rear corners, with wiring to each. Here's a pic of a 108 version

This should be unexpected from what you may have thought.. work is still in progress, but near completion. I did all of these murals with spray cans and paint markers just for fun. A little more to do before clear coat. Can't show the other side yet becasue the van is against the garage wall. I wanted to do a woodstock theme.

that vin tag is for a 1968. all the other tell tale things "might" have been changed in the last 40 years.

Well, it's a 100 van (not wagon), not a 108 and the door is late.
It should also have a dual reservoir master cylinder.

Yes, it has a dual resevior master cylinder.
Also I ordered brake shoes for a 1969 and they were too small. I had to order a 1965 set.

like i said the vin tag is for a 68. after 40+ years things get changed around.doors are easy, dash spoiler, dual or single master, but the easiest thing to change takes four rivits, the vin tag itself. as long as you have a title for it all is good. i bet a significant portion of the cars from the barratt-jackson aren't as real, as we are led to believe. see if there is a corresponding number stamped into the frame rail on the right side by the wheel.

I was talking to the original owners brother-in-law and he said that the van was a 1965 and all parts from a 1965 fit. Does this sound possible? I think I will just keep the van registered as a 1969 unless a 65' is worth more money than the hassle of changing it around?

cleaned the right side of frame outer and under to bare metal in front and behind shock nothing at all.

Here's the Fargo Vin off the one my brother and I rescued.  I can't remember the decode details. It's a 68. Your's is probably right around there. Does yours have a dual master brake cylinder and seat belts? Most other parts prior to 68 would fit your van.
