Anyone know the amp rating or what I would use to replace the fusible wire in the regulator on a '67 A100 318?

Re: Voltage regulator
just replace the regulator with a electronic one. the old ones have points in them. https://vintage-vans.forumotion.com/t32053-voltage-regulator?highlight=electronic+regulator

Re: Voltage regulator
That probably is the best way to go until I get the time to go to a 3 wire system.

Re: Voltage regulator
Pre-70 point style has different wiring than 70-up electronic.
They do make replacement pre-70 regulators that are electronic, just make sure to get one with the correct terminals (compare them).
http://www.dodgetravcos.com/index.php?p=1_36_Dodge-Charging-System
shows the wiring and how it attaches to the regulators.
The 70-up style has a triangle connector with 2 pins.

Re: Voltage regulator
here's a repost from another thread:
There is a solid state replacement for the old mechanical contacts type voltage regulator. It plugs into the same wiring, it's just solid state and is supposed to help with the gauge flutter and pulsing lights etc.
It's made/distributed by a company in Alabama called "Regitar", the part number is "C524", you can see it at http://www.regitar.com.
You probably wont find these at your local parts house, Advance, O'Reilly, and AutoZone didn't have them close to me. They don't sell to the public but they gave me the number of a dealer that carries the part.
"J&N" Parts
Contact number: 1-800-366-7100
J&N carries a lot of old electrical components from what they told me, starters, alternators etc.
The mechanical VR locally was $30-40, I got the solid state one for $8 + $10 or so for shipping/handling. It should be here by the weekend and I'll let you guys know how it works out.
The unit above worked great, I ordered two of them for $8 each and combined shipping so I have a spare.

Re: Voltage regulator
Next question, what voltage should I be getting from the new reg.? Input from the ignition (Blue) wire is 12V output is about 1.6V is that correct?

Re: Voltage regulator
I don't know what typical regulator voltage is at the field wire. I've always made sure the wiring and connectors are good and tested output of the system. 14.1-14.7 volts at high idle (1500) with the headlights on. That's at the battery. If it's low, check the voltage at the back of the alt. If it's good, the circuit has a voltage drop.
The old systems tend to be pretty low at idle. You can clean all the circuit, swap over to a voltmeter instead of the amp gauge so the charging circuit is shorter or update to a modern alternator and feed circuit.

Re: Voltage regulator
Thanks Rod I have a new Reg. and Alt. and still no output from the Alt. I will go back and double check all the wires and connections I must have missed something.

Re: Voltage regulator
I installed the VR you recommended Dix in Jewels 8 door, and it worked like a charm! No more flickering lights!
