The Big Flasher Empty The Big Flasher

Post by RichardP Sun Sep 01, 2013 10:13 am

Tiding up my wiring, trying to get turn signals to work.  I have two flashers
One is the standard kind and the other is part no. C7TB13350A Kind of a big one.
Electricity goes in, comes out but is there any other test to see if its good. Think it has a blue wire one one side, red and red with white stripe on the other side.
I understand Ford used these large flashers for towing purposes.
Any wiring diagram would be appreciated.
    Thanks
    Richard

The turn signals and 4 ways are 2 separate circuits,,,,,,the turn signal flasher gets its power from the the ignition switch,,,,,,the hazard flasher has power to it all the time,,,,,,,the flashers should be interchangeable if you want to test them,,,,,but put a paper clip instead of the flasher if you want to test the switch, fuse and lights,,,,,they just won't flash,,,,,,,,

Ok good. Yes I have power to the Eflasher all the time, and getting ready to hook up the turn signals using the orange white/yellow stripe wire.

Most of this is starting to make sense.

If you have two flashers and have the 67 EIGHT WIRE unit and not the early 67 SEVEN wire unit you can turn the flashers on WITHOUT leaving the key in the ignition. The early 67' used that one.
There is and or was a HD unit that bolted on to the radio bracket as recall,, I have a few of those units also. Rectangular unit,, can take a picture.
In all your posts I dont recall you saying what year you have and or at least what year steering column you have?? to me it sounds like you have the late 67.
I have all the year wiring diagram books and can help you tomorrow as I need to take off here pretty soon.
Tell me where these wires are that you are talkng about and so on. You dont have to use the HD unit as a flasher.... you can use a smaller one like normal.
There are two flashers like Donivan said,, however that is in the 8 wire unit only. When I put them in my steering colmns for people,, the 8 wire unit has one single wire that goes two a flasher that is wired with a constant 12volts (fused of course),,, so that you DON'T have to leave the key in.
Here is the wiring code I use for that flasher if it will help you...vic

1967 EMERGENCY FLASHERS WIRIING TO A GENII TURN SIGNAL USING NEW BLACK TWO PRONG TRAILER CONNECTORS. IF NOT USING CONNECTORS, THEN FOLLOW COLOR CODE FOR THE WIRES AS I HAVE DESCRIBED BELOW.

NOTE: If you are using your old harness, then you would be connecting the wires from the GENII to the appropriate plug end listed below…..

    BLUE CONNECTION
Connect green/white striped wire to male end of plug
Connect white/blue striped wire to female end of plug
Put large diameter BLUE shrink tube over plug end to mark this connection as the BLUE connection.

    RED CONNECTION
Connect solid blue wire to male end of plug
Connect red/black stripped wire female end of plug
Connect large diameter RED shrink tubing over plug end to designate red plug

    BLACK CONNECTION
Connect yellow/brown stripped wire to male end of plug
Connect solid green wire to female end of plug
Leave BLACK color on plug end

    2ND EMERGENCY FLASHER ADDED
Connect fused constant voltage to one side of the new flasher
Connect white/red stripped wire from the GENII turn assembly to opposite side of the new flasher.
