turn signal flasher Empty turn signal flasher

Post by Guest Sun Feb 15, 2009 3:46 pm

    Hi guys,
my turn signals are flashing really fast and I was wondering were to start looking/replacing.
All bulbs except dash lights are working.
Is there an aftermarket flasher that i can get locally?

    Thanks.

The flasher probably is going bad,,,,,,,pull it out and see if it has 2 or 3 terminals on it,,,,,,,,and if the lights on the dash for them don't flash, the bulbs are probably burnt out.

Flasher units don't use a ground,,,,,one is a hot wire, the other goes to the turn signal switch. Do you have a 4 way hazard/emergency flasher switch on it also?

So do the emergency flashers work? Sometimes they and the turn signals fight each other,,,,,,like if their fuse or flasher goes bad. Each should have their own fuse and flasher. The emergency ones have power to them all the time, while the turn signals need to have the key on to work. So you got 2 separate systems using the same bulbs. The 1st test is to put the emergency flashers on and see if the dash and the outside bulbs all work and flash, then shut them off and try the turn signals and see if everything works. Then you can concentrate on what problems you find. And a turn signal flasher is not the same as an emergency flasher. They both fit OK, but a turn signal flasher is made to stop flashing if a bulb is out, so you can fix it. An emergency flasher doesnt care if a bulb goes out,,,,its happy to just flash a dash light while people are flipping you off since they don't see any turn signals flashing.
