Normally those high output alternators need 2 belts or a serpentine one to turn them,,,,,,,

Does that alternator look like this and have this type of connections? The wiring on the vans is the major problem,,,,,it is old and undersized for what we want to add on now,,,,,,Do you have a 6 or 8 cylinder,,,,,they do make 2 groove water pump pulleys,,,,as well as add on pulleys for the harmonic balancers and 2 groove new ones.....

not sure ... ill look in the morning but i do know it has 2 red wires ... one smaller than the other .... im thinkin the larger is the one i need to jump over to the battery charge back wire/terminal so it will "excite" itself .... if the small one is for the idiot light can i hook that one up to the amp meter ?? my voltage gauge just has a C and D ... i guess for charge and discharge ?? can i hook the smaller wire to it and see if it is charging ??

Normally,,,,the output is a terminal on the back of the alternator,,,it is bolted on,,,,the alternator needs another wire to sense the system voltage so the regulator knows when to turn off and on,,,,and you need another wire to turn the regulator on....and that could be the smallest of the 3 wires.....

installation complete and working very good ... almost a direct replacement. i didnt have to modify anything but the adjustment bracket by opening the groove from 5/16 to 3/8 so the bolt for the new alt would fit. thanks for all of the help guys.
