I glued a 1/4 inch foam to the board and stretched the vinyl over it. I marked the back of the panel so I could keep the stripe down the middle. The part that was a little tricky was pulling the top and bottom evenly as not to move the stripe from the middle or make it wavy. It took a few times of taking the staples out to get that right.

I'm using an old Singer from the mid 20's. It works great for vinyl, but it won't go thru carpet. I need to do some binding on the carpet, so I'll need a more commercial machine.

Thanks for the great compliments. I should have the real panel done this afternoon with the proper colors. I'll post pics when I get it done.

yep about the same model as the old mans. does it have the big step plate to run it? Can't you use a bigger needle for the windlace and the material mating to the carpet? I like your work 3 Ken

It's a very cool old machine. Problem is it just doesn't have enough power to go through the carpet, the walking foot doesn't work properly and it skips around a little bit.

Great work 3! Have a fun safe trip and I would love to ride shotgun sometime in that machine! Interior looks great and the doghouse is really taking shape! I love all the extra touches you have added especially the dashboard and the slightly widened headlight trim! Some econoline guy is gonna do a double take on the headlight trim and scratch his head and wonder, Hey, maybe wider trim was an option, sure looks factory!!! LOL

Good morning and Merry Christmas. Not a day goes by that I don't thank my lucky stars for a healthy family and the opportunity to do what I love. Building Hot Rods. This one has been challenging, but very rewarding. You have to love what you build, cause you will never get the money out of it. I am rewarded with the satisfaction that few have taken on this challenge and finished it.
It's 5:00 am on the East Coast and I am showered and in the garage trying to get as much done as I can before Santa comes.
Merry Christmas everyone.

Stayed up late making a shifter boot. First I drew out a pattern, then cut out the blue material. Then I sewed them together. I'm gonna make a stainless steel ring for it today.
