I used GT mat and it was easy to work with. I will let you know how it works as heat and sound deadening.

I made a pattern from cardboard of the front floor pan around the doghouse. And don't mind the wiener dog she's happy to be inside the garage where it's nice and warm.

I cut out the carpet for the rear tubs and roughed in the front and a few other pieces to get an idea of what the blue carpet would look like.

Did you do anything to the floor before putting down the GT Mat? Just wondering what people use to protect the floor to add protection to help prevent future rusting. I envy that heated garage as I know not much will get done over the winter on mine. Your doing some classy work on it! The stance makes it look like your van is hunkering down for the winter!

Thanks very much I am very fortunate to have this heated garage it's a life changer. I didn't do anything but lightly use a wire brush on the floor to clean it up I was fortunate that this van was super solid and had zero rust to begin with.vanny wrote:Did you do anything to the floor before putting down the GT Mat? I got a little more work on the front carpet today and worked on making some carpet edging for the door threshold.

I found some old threshold moldings that used to go on an old Impala that I had. I cut them bent them and formed them to work in the Econoline.

Lol. Of course. I took the one off the passenger side and it looks like a Ford oval will fit nicely.Vannin Ken wrote:3 You are going to take off that Fisher Body emblem off the moulding right? LOL

The custom seats arrived yesterday for the Econoline. Medium blue with a white stripe going up the middle.

I bought them off eBay, here is the link above. Dude is awesome, made them quick and would do them in any color that I wanted. He gave me the name of his supplier and let me pick the colors and the textures, so that they were exact. Now I've ordered those colors from that supplier for the door panels and the headliner and it will match perfectly.

I have been through this thread several times. Very cool build man.
Couple questions. How much higher do the seats sit with the new fenders? And what size are the rims and tires in the front?
Keep up the good work.
Later,
Chad

Thanks very much for the compliments. I'll check on the tire size in the morning but they are very small close to a spare tire size. We had to raise the front fenders about 2-3 inches, and I'm going to use a set of bomber seats which only uses a piece of 2 1/2 inch foam on top of those tubs. I just mocked up the pair of seats in the front and it's going to leave me plenty of headroom even after the 4 inch body drop. I'm about 5'10.
I'll post some pics of the seats sitting in the van.

Here is a shot of the front seat sitting on top of the tubs. Very close to where they will be. And the rear seats for my 2 best future Hot Rodders.

Very cool. I mocked up where I thought the seats would be if I body dropped mine but being 6'5", I looked like the grape ape driving the truck. So I put that thought on hold until later. I It was just mocked up based on some quick measurements though.

Between the 4 inch body drop and having to raise the tubs in the front for the wheels about two or 3 inches it would make it tough for you being 6'5.

I've taken over the wife's spare bedroom and made it into a sewing room. I'm going to try to make two-tone door panels for the Econoline. I started by making the panel for the driver door. I gutted the door, covered the inside with GT Mat sound deadener, and put her back together.

Multi-talented! Can't wait to see how it looks. I know I've said it before but I love following your build! Thanks for the pics!

I figured I would try to make the door panel cover out of some extra material I had laying around. I have never done a 2 tone cover and better to learn on some scrap. I have been reading and reading and reading, and if I can sew a straight line, I think this should be easy. I want a 3 inch whites stripe right down the middle of the front door panels that will continue all the way around the van. I'm gonna use black on the test panel, but it will be a medium blue when I build the final cover. I first cut the material that I needed into strips and marked the white strip at 3 inches wide. I sewed the 3 pieces together.
