Then I decided to change the white on the panels for the side of the tubs and make panels for the sides of the 4 link cover. Also carpeted the cover.

Thanks again guys. What a great Christmas Eve Day. Had a buddy working on the doghouse and I continued with the interior.
I started out this morning by building the trim ring for the shifter boot. I had an old price of stainless that I pulled out of the trash. I marked it it and cut it with the wheel. Then filed sanded and polished it to a shine. I glued the boot on the bottom of the trim ring and mounted it in the van. Easy as that. Handmade shifter boot.

Now it's time to build the side panels next to the rear barn doors. I decided to do these out of PVC rather than hard board. With the PVC I can heat and bend it around the corner and it will keep that curved shape.

A buddy has been working on the doghouse and we are getting closer. He built most of the front and just about has it enclosed.

So I've been a little busy with the holidays. But I did get a lot of tuneup done on the van and feel like she's ready to cruise on a long distance. I took it for a ride today down the highway at 65+ and had my buddy film it for me. She drove great and I think she's ready for a long drive.

You deserve the credit buddy, not sure what I would have done without your guidance. I am sure you enjoy driving yours as much as I enjoy driving mine.
Thanks for having the balls to tear it up!

I did not make any patterns, I think it would be different for everyone, based on how you wanted the truck to sit when you are done. I wanted mine to set on the ground, so I built it with that in mind. I realize that most would not want this stance, so I think it is something that each can set where they want.

I never say that anything is impossible, but I think keeping the 3onthetree is gonna be tough. Trying to get the linkage to snake thru the crossmember and between all the steering that will have to be fabricated. I was originally gonna go with a 6 cylinder, but had decided that I would use a C4 with a floor shifter and cable to make it easier.
Keep up the good work, she is looking good.
I just came across this thread and read all the pages. Regarding this shifter problem then. I used push-pull boat outboard engine steering cables to operate my manual trans. I also made throws shorter and measured and modified all the end link lengths and positions. Works really good.

Thanks very much for the info, I ended up using an AOD tranny and so I got to use a Lokar shifter with the factory kick down cable and it works excellent. I love that tranny, makes is cruising on the highway very easy.

It was very simple. The only thing I felt stuck on was buying the Lokar shifter, whick was expensive, but very well built, and easy to install. Then you have to buy the extended cable for it, and the factory kickdown linkage. Then it was all bolt in. Shifts great and I love having the overdrive.

I've been debating wether to buy a shifter or try and go with Vic's column shift conversion, was planning on the lokar tv cable. If you can I'd like to know what the Lokar part#'s you used were, esp the tv cable, there are a couple of options if iirc.
