Trans pan drain plug.

I know i'm a never ending stream of questions here, sorry. Anyway, my trans pan is always wet. Never any puddles on the ground but the bolts are wet none the less. So i figured i'd put a new gasket on and change the filter while i have it off. Number of transmission pan gaskets i've changed in my life = 0. But I dont think this drain plug looks factory installed.


Am i wrong? As that how they really do it? The drain plug gasket always has a drop hanging off it ready to drip so i was gonna get a new one. But this looks like somebody just ran a screw with a rubber washer into the pan.

If I buy a new pan, aluminum or steel? Any real difference? I'm leaning toward aluminum, no rusting.

Yes without a doubt they did and I am suprised that it doesn't leak.

I heard a typical 700R4 filter change requires 1 gallon of fluid to be replaced. That is exactly how much i got out of it. Filled an empty milk gallon. I dont know how long its been like that but i drove it about 2500 miles since i bought it and that includes the 1500 mile drive to bring it home. I seemed to be full.

Yes it usally takes 4 quarts without draining the torque converter. I usually drive mine for a while then check the fluid level again just to be certain that it is full. Here's
