should recessed area in front and side emblems painted to look oem?

i was wondering in on the front ford letters and the side econoline letters the recessed area of the letters were painted when the vans were new, and if so what color.

kind of looks like they should be

one of the econoline experts i have been working with told me that the emblems were painted black in the recess areas

think ill give painting them a try then

Certainly no expert on anything here but I have never seen an econoline with even the remains of paint in those letters

my falcon had no front letters. the set i bought on ebay had remains of white paint on them.

the only recesses ever painted were the HEAVY DUTY letters...
anyone want to chime in and back me up on this?

thanks for the input, sounds like there is still no definite answer on the FORD in front, what about the econoline on the front doors?

and i notices today that the FORD on the back doors has black accents on it

My Heavy Duty emblem has black paint in the recess as well.

i say do whatever makes you happy...after all it is your truck...make it your way...

Paint them with Bodys colors ?

painting them is going to be a on going project when you get wax in there or the paint flakes off...just my 2 cents. but i'm no ford expert.

I guess I should mention that I can't say if that was done at factory or if someone did this years ago. Mine have the paint flaking off and would need to to be re-painted anyway. The F O R D letters on all 3 of my vans don't look to be painted at all. If I can find them (put away in a box in one of my storage vans ) I will post a pic.
