upgrade to 240ci motor? Empty upgrade to 240ci motor?

Post by Rayallen Wed Jan 25, 2012 3:19 pm

I found a post here locally were a guy is selling a 240ci motor.

    His exact post says:
(1965 Ford F100 240 six cyl and complete drive train. Includes trans, carb, starter, intake manafold (not broken) ect., ect)

How difficult would it be to swap the 200 out. Ive been wanting to rebuild the 200 anyways, so it would have to be pulled.

With this said I have left the guy a message and do not know if its already been sold. Im just wondering of its actually worth doing at all.

dont know whats involved with the swap but the 300 is the same block and is an excelant motor. i have had more than a few and swore by them in my work trucks until i finally went diesel. the 300 would outpull a 390.

I have a good 300, auto trans, big six cross member etc. but I’m no longer going through w/ the swap as I bought the dodge w/ big v8 etc

if you get the 240, you will need the big six x-member and also trans, driveshaft and you will also want a 9” rear end if you don’t have one. I’ve also got one of those laying around.

from my research, the 300 will make more torque than a v8 302 (5.0) and have better MPG. those straight 6 motors are also known for reliability.

If you have a 61-64 model its as much work as a V8 install.

It comes with everything I need except for motor mounts and the big six cross member. Complete 240 with carb, starter, alt, tranny etc. Talked to the guy tonight, seemed will honest. Older man who took it out of a Ford f 100, because he partial to ford 289s. The price is way below value, dirt cheap so im thinking about it even if I can't get to it right away.......

Thats not all you need. You need the 65-56 doghouse and to swao out the gas pedal for the cable style of a 65-67,a different radiator,9 inch rear if you dont already have it,different exhaust setup, just for starters.

Thanks Tim I believe u helped me make my decision. Going to stick with the 200 & eventually rebuild it. In the mean time a new 3 or 4 row radiator and some performance headers should keep me moving along nicely.
