hello. I am thinking about buying a 63 Panel van. the guy says the motor is low mile, but the distributor froze and broke the cam.?? what to look for.?? I think throw motor away....parts flying around inside.?? thanks

How broke is it? Timing gear could of broke and now the camshaft won't turn the distributor and valves wont open,,,,,see if the crank turns and pull out the distributor and see if it is froze or its gear broken,,,,,

If it's too bad (and it probably has a 144 or 170 in it now) you might want to upgrade to a 200. If you search through some of the old threads you can find out how it's done. Keep us posted!

my mistake, it is a 65, and he sasys it is a 240...but if something is broke off, maybe there are parts floating around.??

You need to run those checks I listed,,,,could be just 2 plastic teeth off the cam gear laying in the pan,,,,,
