Broke my driveshaft Empty Broke my driveshaft

    Post by 88hybrid Wed Sep 14, 2016 1:56 pm

I broke the slip yoke Driveshaft on the trans side. My van is a  1965 heavy duty. It has a small u joint on trans side , (that is no longer available from what im told) and a standard 3110 u joint for the 9 inch rear side. I got a replacement off ebay from a 1966 Falcon van, but the shaft is much bigger in diameter, and has the same side u joint. I cannot find info on what van had these larger shafts. I found another but it has the two same size small u joints! for I guess the standard vans with smaller engines. Im frustrated. A driveshaft rebuilder said he could not fix mine as the parts are obsolete.
Can anyone give me some advise, or check there parts bin to see if they have a rear trans yoke from this "larger" ujoint, or a heavy duty shaft with the different size joints. I cant drive my van and I just restored it, and would love to drive it!!

I don't know any info about drive shafts...I'm sure someone can help though. I am curious about your No Door project, would like to see more about it, pictures and such.

The easy fix is to get a rear yoke from a 65-67 big six trans. It will replace the small yoke on your small six trans. Trouble is finding one of these. You might check with a 4X4 shop and see if they can provide one.

I hope I can find one! It seems they could have been on a mustang or truck f100?

Thank you for the help. I located a rear trans yoke from a 240 trans! Paid for and on its way! Hopefully it's all I need
