he was going to put it in a mustang. never got to it and sold car. will let it go for $150 to make room in garage. my biggest complaint with my van is the underpowered 170 eng. just hate to take it off the road again for a eng. swap - would it be better to go with a bigger 6 cyl. already have the bigger alum. radiator in there. tuff call dont know what to do

I would go with a 200ci. It will bolt right in and you can build to have more HP and torque than a stock 302

[ido what u think is best & makes u happy-V-8 is cheaper & yet must do new mounts ? so might be some added costs - what king of mileage was on the motor & why removed?

If he put @2400.00 in the 240 it must have a larger cam etc and would probably have more Hp and definitely more torque than that 302. I have done the V8 swap and don't ever recommend it unless you are willing to cut the floor up and put in a Chevy doghouse so you can get a larger rad. in there. You are much better off with the 240 and you will probably get better gas mileage with it too. What year is your Econo? I ask because because you will need the larger Econo DH whether you go with the 240 or the 302. That 302 looks pretty well used and may need to be rebuilt in the near future while that 240 won't if it in fact was just rebuilt.

decided to keep my 170
might be getting laid off again. wife dont want me spending money on van. but the good news i found alot more power in my engine by setting the timeing with a vaccume gauge instead of the timeing light it was way off the the org. marks on cover. plenty enough power & speed now. turning my attention to the brakes now to slow it down. plus im having to much fun driving this around now - its better than most amuesment park rides
