I have to think of safety too. This truck will be show quality and I want to do what ever I can to keep from getting rear ended. With all the drunks and illegal aliens here driving like they are the only ones on the road every safety precaution needs to be taken.

Re: Third brake lights
I would even think that a frenched installation of one of these as a high third brake light would be really cool, especially if you are applying the same approach with brakelights frenched in the standard or rollpan locations! Hmmm....

Re: Third brake lights
I have been thinking more and more along those lines. I really like molding them into the roll pan but then again high on the cab is better for safety. Also since I am molding in the tail gate area it would be easy to mold one there. These lights com in white and amber too and I thought if I go with the third break light on the cab and two white ones in the roll pan for back up lights that would look pretty good too. I also thought of doing away with the stock tail lights and installing a red one of these on each side with an amber one next to them since they come in 6" lengths too I think that would be a good length for the tail lights and turn signal lights and 12" clear for the back up lights.

I got hit in the rear of my jeep while sitting at a light last year. Was pushed into the truck in front of me. Once you have been through that YOU WILL want the third light protection..
See but having one on my Jeep wouldnt do a bit of good. Once I am stopped at a stop light, unless there is any kind of incline, I never use my brakes. I release them and just sit at the light stagnant. I do the same in any manual transmission powered vehicle simply because I can. But I guess its kinda hard to miss my big ass Red YJ sitting on 35's. The A100 I drive like a grandfather so usually nobody hangs around behind me anyway if they can help it.

About the same age as when you start to want to update to disc brakes.BajaCharlie wrote:At what age does safety start being more important than your car lookin cool?

Re: Third brake lights
I don't want to get hit from behind but I would rather they hit my siverado p/u than my Bugeye van as they have tons of parts available for the p/u and it's like searching for gold with the van so I will probably look into a third light too..

Re: Third brake lights
I am thinking more and more of molding the third brake light in the top of the closed in tail gate rather than on the cab.

Waaaay too many let me tell you. Boise is a lot larger than you probably realize. 1/4 of a million people just in within Boise city boundaries. Figure another 200+k between Garden City, Eagle, Meridian and Kuna, all within a fairly small area.

That may be a great idea. You are going to be doing work in that region anyway so whats a little more work to french a light in.

My thought exactly and then I wouldn't need to cut a hole in the cab.MoparFreak69 wrote:vanishingbreed wrote:I am thinking more and more of molding the third brake light in the top of the closed in tail gate rather than on the cab.
