Don, I'll gladly tell where I was 25 years ago the night it hit something like 26 below.

I was on the rooftop of a frozen pizza factory the made Taylor Street brand and public school pizzas in Elk Grove. At such low temperatures, the refrigerant (R-502) gets the oil in a holding freezer's refrigeration system a little funky, causing the system to shut down on the low pressure control. My job was to climb up on the roof, walk to the other end of the building, take off the cover and hit the control's reset then pray it stayed on.

The night Mayor Daley #1 died... On a roof, while my dad tried to get a new fangled electric ignitor operational again.

    Good Times...

Thus the reason I didn't follow in my dad's footsteps.

I don't think we'll have tooooo many days like today. When it gets this cold, we don't even think about going to the shop.

Maybe you got lucky and the pressure switch is just frozen from too much moisture... maybe.

I'm waiting for it to warm up tomorrow to go to work. Luckily I have a few apts to paint over the next couple weeks.

Who made them? How old? Is the compressor oil-less?

Try to stay warm and dry over there.

i'm pretty sure the oil was to cold when it was running /trying to run .. it warmed up the other day i changed the oil and it was full of shavings it still runs but it takes forever to pump up and sounds like shit i figur it's got a smoked head . it's set up outside in a little room off the back of my shop guess it just got to cold for it Sad as far as my mig welder go'e it's not that old but it is about the cheapest one you can buy ive only gone thou about 5 spools of wire but i've had it for over 3 years so i'm screwed on the warenty same with the compresser i got 2 other compressers a 2 hp and a 3 hp not very good for anything but tires and maybe a few small things
but i really need the mig still got a bunch to finish yet maybe if it warms up it might work better right now it only has the low side left hi side don't want to work at all right now , it's been the worst year i have ever had as far as my tools go so far this year i lost /broken my 3" grinder , my angle die grinder, my air hammer, my 3/8 drill, my jig saw, my sazall . 2/ 1/2 " breaker bars , 2 /9/16 sockets and now my compresser and my mig ..
I must say some of them were well over 20 years old . I still have tools from my very first tool set but dam it's been a really bad year for tools and not tryg to live on disabity check replacing them really sucks anybody know a single lady with a really nice set of tools Smile

Frigging snow....why did it snow another six inches today...because I snow blowed out my driveway yesterday. Mother nature just likes to keep me busy...and I guess at my age it's good to keep moving. Pretty good blog you started here donivan. Kinda lets you learn about some of the members here. I miss working on my van...I hate when progress halts. Too expensive to heat the garage this winter so I'm going to start hauling everything inside the house that I can...I got my front bumper to finish that I took off a 77 Chevy van and shortened 7 inches and need to shorten the back of the bed from a conversion van so it will fold down in the 67. My girlfriend is going to love me but she'll get over it. Hope you all stay warm this winter and have a Merry Christmas...

It's just a place to hang out until we got something important to post,,,,,,I dug my my motorhome out of the mud today to check out the 3 batteries,,,,,all dead since I just parked it behind the garage in June, after I came back from Chicago in it. Now I need to settle my account at my gas station,,,,last time I filled up was in May to start on my 5000 mile road trip, and I paid $4.50 a gallon. I still got some Arizona gas left in the tank from June. It just burns me to no end that the last time I paid $3.00 more a gallon at the same place for the same stuff,,,,,

I can echo the concerns on the heat, Its hard to justify warmin up a building for a few hours of work time, I did finally venture out today from the homestead, Its a freakin winter wonderland allright, I made some more scrap metal today by gettin things ready to mount up the dual master cyl and patched up some more floor, after crawling around under the van for a couple hours I looked out the windows and another mini blizzard had kicked in, Its just hard to get anything done in this weather for sure, be back in the backhoe diggin myself out agin tomorrow. I hear ya on the gas prices there Don, I just wish propane would make the same drop ,, they seem to like hanging on to the high side with that.

That is why mine is shaved, mom is still bald like me and going through treatments. She has been fighting this for almost 11 years with 2 recurrences and is doing better now than most days. She and dad live next door and I see them all that I can.

No, but I was there in spirit. Got home late (again) and we went to a restaurant/bar after halftime for a bite to eat. Must of been 35% Packers fans there. If I missed an important play, I had to wait for the replay to figure out if I should smile or pout.

I bet everyone inside the 0 to 2 degree UFO had brought their own booze and wasn't feeling a bit of pain till today. I believe it was actually warmer in Green Bay.

This weather is starting to wear on me. 2.25 Hours to get home tonight, then off to Home Cheapo to try a find a shear bolt for the snow blower. "We don't have any 'shear bolts', but we 'hardened bolts'. Will that work for ya?"

Maybe I should catch a flight out after the holidays and visit my Aunt and Uncle in San Diego then go take on that sump.

So while sitting around waiting for some rain on Christmas Eve, I felt the need to open up stuff. And there is stuff from 1966 sitting out in my driveway that needs to be opened up. And I needed to see if the No Door is really a No Door, so I took off the right side paneling. It had foil backed fiberglass glued to the body, but that glue was all dried up. I did find a 1966 Mercury sales booklet showing all the NEW for 1966, Mercury Comet Voyagers, Villiagers, and Capris....

I was just sittin here trying to figure out how to see my gallery photos. I gave up on that and decided to check out what everyone else is up to. With all the pages here it would seem you all are up to a lot (6' 0 here, I couldn't resist either).

After yesterday being freezing cold, they are actually calling for some really warm weather here in Kentucky. So i guess I am up to just saying
    "Hey" from Kentucky.
