Just read your entire thread, really enjoyed the transformation. Your hard work certainly shows well. On a side note all this time I thought you were located in Chino, Ca. Again very nice work

Re: Rod's AZ A-108
Thanks guys!
Space Truckin', yeah, I get that from time to time. If you search for Chino Valley, there is only the one here in AZ. The LA area has Chino and Chino Hills. I've been plugging away at it, with a thought toward NOT making it a huge project, like the '66. Just gotta finish up all the little details on the engine so I can drive it again.
BigW, it's a free handout. I have one, another is being held for me at a friend's. I Will be looking for more. Gotta find out who has 'em up here.
Oh, and I made more progress on the engine from what is shown.
Here's a more recent one...

Re: Rod's AZ A-108
Well, I was jazzed last night and bummed this morning.
Just missed out on (drum roll..........) another van!
Ad was up last night and deleted this morning...
OLD SHRINERS VAN GO KART NEEDS WORK HAS TWO HORNS FRONT AND REAR LIGHTS THEY USED THIS IN PARADES 3HP MOTOR
Would have loved to get it and repaint it as a Street van, like this one.

Re: Rod's AZ A-108
They are so wavy that you'd have to add another 50 pounds of 'glass and bondo to get it straight enough for Black!
Then you'd add a 10 HP motor so it would move...
Hmm, sounds like a plan!

Re: Rod's AZ A-108
Well, finally got off my lazy backside and swapped motors in the 108. Took out the one I got all cleaned up because it had major exhaust leaks, was running too lean even after 3 go-throughs with the carb, and the engine was tired.
Got another used /6 and spent the past couple days pulling the old and installing the used.
Still need to figure out the throttle, kickdown and adjust it, but it runs nice and no leaks or nasty noises.

Here's a highly modded version of the mini Dodge van that goes down the quarter mile at 90 miles per hour. The video is almost ten minutes long, but only the first half is of the little van.

Re: Rod's AZ A-108
Well, got back on this van.
The newer engine's carb wasn't playing nice with the old linkage AND it hesitated badly even with a new accl pump cup. So I bit the bullet and bought a rebuilt 69 style carb. Bolted it on this morning and it's running great!
Next was the front brakes. I had to order parts and wait for them to arrive.
Pulled the van half into the garage and had to go get a floor jack (mine is shot, and the replacement made it as far as a friend's shop. He had moved it to another shop so I borrowed his other jack.
Got the front in the air and pulled the right side apart. Grease horrid, and the wrong brake parts. So, went to the parts store, returned the wrong stuff and ordered the right stuff. came home and cleaned the stuff all up and slapped it back together without shoes and hardware. Will have to finish the right side and do the whole left side next weekend.
Also took off the 2002 van's alt for testing. Unfortunately, it's good so it's either the wiring or the computer. Ugh!
So tomorrow, I'll take a look at the 89 van and see if I can get it up and going. I want to drive one of them!

Re: Rod's AZ A-108
Well, the brake shoes and hardware were right, but the wheel cylinder was not!
Went to the local stores and checked the stores in town, nobody had the right one.
So, I pulled the backing plate and wheel cylinder off the old axle and did it up that way!
BTW, 1970 wheel cylinders are a one year only deal. Different than 69, and of course different than a 71 B van.
So got it running, played with bleeding, adjusting the timing and carb, figured out how hot it was getting (not too much) and washed it.
Going to drive it some more tomorrow and hopefully drive it to work next week.
The plan is finally coming together!
Also got great comments every time I stopped!

Re: Rod's AZ A-108
Just an update. Went to the Mooneyes Christmas Party at Irwindale to crew for my friends with the race cars. Unfortunately, both cars went out first round. I did get to meet and talk to some of the Vandoleros and they are a great bunch!
So to Tim (I think, we are both bad with names), here's a shout out and links to my other vans...

Here's a shot of the cars at the last outing, where they went all the way.
