how does one take off the light switch knob?
is it the conventional thread: lefty loosey righty tighty
    or pulling it off?
i dont want to break it and then having to put a skull knob in there.
    thanks...

If they are like GM light switches there a small button on the back of the switch that you push then pull out the whole rod and knob.

Are any of the bulbs dim? Dim can be because of a bad fixture ground, connector or socket. The flasher needs a minimum amount of current for it to function.
There could also be resistance somewhere else.
Have you tried a new flasher?

Me have wife too. She play in sewing room. Me should be working on van, but type on keyboard instead. Not so messy.

Hey man, I feel your pain.

The flasher should be under the dash, about an inch tall little aluminum cylinder that ticks when the turn signal is on.

Make sure you got the right bulbs in there,,,,,sometimes I have found single contact bulbs in there when it needs a double one. Then take a jumper wire and run it from the body to the base of the bulb,,,,,,a lot of times those lights loose their ground. See if that changes anything.
