unmasked, not perfect, but I'm at the "it's good enough" end of my rope. I con only expect so much working in a carport using paint and spray gun I've not yet read the instructions for.

Re: the austinmodhouse 65 econoline
the white sections are actually a single stage marine paint, the stuff people paint boats with. I sprayed it on but I hear most ppl roll/brush it on. self levels really well and very tough.

doubling up on the peeps
I hate the big ugly mirrors I’ve had on these rigs in the past. I liked the look of the "peep mirrors" but I'd read they are pretty much useless for actually seeing other vehicles. I figured there was power in numbers and doubled up on the peeps, sort of like mods used to do with their scooters.
to help with the blind spot on the pssngr side, I installed a convex stick on mirror on one of the peeps. that should do it.

Re: the austinmodhouse 65 econoline
don’t think the eco-van will drag the airstream. sadly, the airstream will be at palmetto but the van won’t.
the good news is, the 300 c.i. motor I bought checked out ok w/ 125 psi across the board. van is at the mechanic’s place now. drove it 55 miles to get it there and radiator boiled over as I pulled into his place.
i had bought a 300 with a c6. seller is a small engine mechanic and he promised me the compression on the 300 was good and he’d replaced all teh bearings on the bottom end while he had the motor out, just never got around to reinstalling it. that was a few years ago. I arrived early and was surprised to see the motor being pulled out from under the porch, long chain attached to a bumper of a truck in his yard. he did some damage to a camper he had parked in the front yard in the process. one of those moments I probably should’ve walked away. but, turns out the guy was legit and my “porch motor” is gonna work.

Re: the austinmodhouse 65 econoline
worse case, u could always yank the v10 outta your excursion, im sure that will fit between the seats and u would be able to pull the airstream.

no v10 in my excursion, it has the powerstroke 7.3 turbo diesel. it was made for towing.

Re: the austinmodhouse 65 econoline
so the summer came and went. the van, at a big shop out in the country. I’d call every other week and every other week they’d promise to start on my driveline replacement the next week. there was an old bronco taking longer than they expected to finish, they only take on one old fun side project at at time, something they work on when things are slow etc. they finally admitted, they didn’t think they’d get to it any time soon. said the summer has been hard on cars and they have never been so busy, not going to be picking up any more old school projects.
so, the summer is gone. mild temps are here. I guess I’ll go p/u the OBV (orange box van). I guess I will be shoe horning that 300 ci in there myself… or just drive it w/ the 170 for a while, nothing really wrong with it. I did take my wife’s daily driver for a nice fall weather drive.
and I may change direction…

Re: the austinmodhouse 65 econoline
thanks! I am not done w/ the orange section. I’m not crazy about the flat paint and was planning to respray in an enamel. but everything is up in the air, not sure if I will end up w/ two vans or no vans… we have a lot of balls in the air and I’m waiting for something to happen.heretic wrote:
