Re: 1st & 2nd gen glass sun visor
In the middle it said 80 ford PU... I cut off the ends and taped it to my roof and made a mold out of layered up tin foil and started to slap on fiberglass and made the new ends for it.
I took pictures of the whole making of this but somehow lost them It was pretty easy to do but just finding one of these old visors to start with is pretty tough... I'm picking up another 2nd gen van next spring and hoping to make a few visors and maybe some molds for flares and making some custom dash covers out of fiberglass.

Re: 1st & 2nd gen glass sun visor
Thank's again Mo. That makes alot of sence. The ones I got seem good in center, but the ends don't fit right. Did you bevel the edge before you stared the layers??

Re: 1st & 2nd gen glass sun visor
I beveled(sanded past the gel-coat) the edge a little on the outside of the visor and alot more on the inside. I ran the new fiberglass in about 5" on the inside and about 1 1/2" on the outside. You want to make sure your fiber-glassing to the fiberglass so you would want to sand down past the gel-coat. I did the outside first and then removed it to finish the inside and of course I had a small drop of resin drip on my new paint so if you do this make sure you cover "everything!" I also bought "snap-caps" to cover the screw heads that hold the visor on.

And Thank's again Mo. I was going to ask you about the cap for the screws. Do you remember what size screw you used?? Did some cutting & fitten on the one I got from Troy(not marked, but "think" it was for mid Chevy van) Closer but still needs more work on the sides. Nobodys got any pics of 1st gens??

Re: 1st & 2nd gen glass sun visor
I can't remember what size caps I got, I just got alot of them because they were so cheap... With free shipping, they probably paid more than I spent to mail them to me
A 1st gen visor would be ALOT easier than a 2nd gen because of the drip edge on the 1st gen go all the way down the pillars where as on my 2nd gen I had to make humps to go over the drip edge.
Yea... I've been waiting for Dan to chime in....Dan where are you?????? I think he had to lengthen his to fit.

Re: 1st & 2nd gen glass sun visor
I've been watching Mo! I removed mine when I started the bodywork on the panel. Been sitting on the shelf ever since. I really do like yours. And the dash cover too. I've had my eye open for another one for the Sportvan since I got it but haven't found anything yet... Yep, had to add 2 1/2 inches to mine and now it sits right in the gutters.
