Early factory service manual? Empty Early factory service manual?

Post by veefre Sat Sep 27, 2008 6:34 pm

I'm generally a Mopar kind of guy, and haven't had a problem getting genuine factory service manuals for various mopars from Chrysler.

I wonder if factory service manuals for the early vans (I have a '67) are available from GM?

I see them on Ebay all the time. Does anyone have the Part # for his 67 Chevy Van books? You need the service and the overhaul manuals. These books might only be for the pick ups,,,,so you need to be sure it covers the G 10's. You might want to ask the seller,,,,,,,,

    OK, thanks.

I got an original owner's manual off eBay and it lists the numbers of the 1967 Chassis Service Manual for truck series 10-60 and the overhaul manual for same, which appear to include the vans as well. There's also a heavy duty truck shop manual for series 70-80 listed but I don't think that would apply to the G20 van.

I was a bit thrown by the inclusion of the word "chassis" in the book titles as that initially indicated to me it was for body stuff only. My bad ;-)

I got Haynes & Chilton Manuals for my vans over the years. The Haynes is better its got most of the wireing , the Chilton don't anymore. I got a older one from the 70's that they still put that info in

Unfortunately the Haynes that covers '67 and earlier vans is out of print - the most recent in their catalog is the one I picked up, the '68-96 version. There is a Chilton still in print that covers about '67 to '86, but over the years I've been rather unimpressed with the quality of Chilton service manuals. They tend to be light on detail with over-generalized information. Haynes are usually as good as if not better than the factory versions.

I have a set similar to the ones Donivan gave the link for on e-bay, but mine are for 1968. In it are sections that pertain to the vans. If you need info I can photograph the pages and upload them.

    Thanks,

I found service and overhaul truck manuals for 1967 and they contain all the van information.

I posted this the other day but it seems to have mysteriously disappeared...

    *Raises thread from the dead*
How much of a difference is there between the 67 and the 68?
    I can't find jack about the 68. =\

Better question... When it says "Series 10-60", sometimes it says C/K. Those are the pickups, this is a van. Does that make a difference?

You can try the Photobucket link at the bottom of this post. I let my Pro account expire, but you might be able to get the manuals still.

Yep, found them finally when you posted the "Chevy Truck" title... No wonder I couldn't find "van" books. Smile
