Post by RodStRace Fri Oct 01, 2010 12:49 pm

I know this has been brought up before, but I'm on the hunt now.
I remember that there was discussion of one place that had them, but the quality was not up to people's expectations. I think that is one of those listed below. I looked for NOS, but no luck so far. Can't say that a 40+ year old rubber part sounds great anyway...

    Suppliers that do not have them are;
    Robert's
    Metro
    Andy B
    Steele

    So far, I've found these...

Talked to John, and he said they use high quality EPDM. The seal is in 2 parts.
He mentioned an early and late, but said the exact break is not mid 66, they have had 64 and 65s with the late style.
He said that if the pivot point is about a quarter of the way from the top, it's early. If it's about a third of the way down, it's late.

If anyone has feedback on these, please let me know. I want a good seal the first time. Seems like others could use this too!

I was not particularly impressed with the Karr seals (mine were the early style for my '65). They were $210 for the pair and the quality was mediocre at best. It looks like the originals they used to create the mold were pretty rough.

Yep, I messed up again. I keep doing that on their page. Evil or Very Mad
They do NOT list vent seals. I can wait a while IF the parts are great and they do come out in a few months.... Still doing metal work on mine, then all the primer and blocking...

Hey Rod, like you I have been doing the same and just scored a complete set off of the bag. Cost me $185, steep I know but what's a mofo to do when they need them? I asked the guy about the part #'s and he said that they were repops and had no #'s on them, their on there, guess he didn't know where to look. I haven't installed these yet as I just got them last week but the part #'s match with what's in the crash book, and lining these up against the window will work at least on mine. I have thought about finding someone that can repop a handful of these for folks like you that are looking. If I ever get around to it and can get them done, would you be in for a set? I probabally should throw this somewhere on the board for all to see that way I could get a price.

I need a set one way or another. I want good stuff though.
185, if that's what it takes is about in the middle of the field, so that's not a bad price.
I'd imagine that a repop would take quite a bit of effort, since there are so few on the market already.

    1. They look like late ones.
    2. "1961-1971 Dodge A-100 and D-100 model Trucks and Vans. "
Uh, the vendors with the D truck ones say they do not fit vans.
    3. Mentions the vertical parts, but they are not pictured.
    4. No mention of the rivets that hold the vertical part.
If they were great, fit right and included all the parts, I'd spend that.
The ad sure doesn't inspire confidence that this is the case.
Only 3 sales since 2002, and the other items listed are all rubber parts. I wonder if they are buying from Karr and reselling... same city.

Those are the ones I got!
    1. Lining them up, they will at least work on my 69. What's the difference between the two?
    2. The D-100's are different then the A100's from what I've seen in the yards.
    3. I did get the vertical ones that go on the glass.
    4. I don't have the rivets on mine, I'll have to look at that closer with what's currently on there, maybe be able to fab something from the hardware store?!
I was his 3rd sale for what it's worth.
If ya'll got any questions that I might be able to answer, I will. BTW I was thinking on seeing on getting these repoped before installing if I can get them at a cheaper cost.

To me, the rivets should be included or a readily available part number should be provided.

Once you get them installed, I'd like to know how they fit, look and work (wind whistles, smooth vent operation?)

I just got off the phone with Restoration Specialties.
They expect to have the late vent window seals ready in March!!! Smile
The front door seals they provide do not have the wires imbedded in them. He said that some had them, some did not. Some also have plastic clips.
They also have seal material for the pop out door windows.
They do not have the tail light or front marker seals. They need originals for patterns for these, as well as the early vent window seals.

    Hi there,
I have your e-catalog on my computer, and I was checking to see if you had the following parts available for sale.

I need these items – Left & Right hand side ¼ window (vent window) rubber seals. Picture of the window frame is attached.

Please let me know if you can help,

    ***********************************************************

Anyone else find anything yet? I would spend money to get a decent set, since the ones I bought from Steele are not even close to being correct.
    Thanks,

I got the same a couple of months ago. I will call again and see if they actually are making the die.

The last time I called they actually gave me a price and told me the end of January, then I emailed and they said it wasn't available. I emailed back and told them I talked to someone who told me Jan. and they wrote back "Sorry, that was Dave. The tooling is still being made for this part, so they are not yet being produced. "

    Hi there,
I am a member of the Vintage Van forum based in USA.
We have a large number of guys who would be willing to buy, and are waiting to buy quality repro items for this very window.
I read on a thread in the forum that you guys were reproducing these rubbers sometime around March 2011.
Has any progress been made here?
Looking forward to a yes 
    Kind regards,
    Roger
