Re: restoring drip rail
So are there holes in the roof or just rust?
But rust usually starts underneath and eats itself out. Can you see whats going on from inside when you look up at the roof?

Re: restoring drip rail
Then the next thing is to start cleaning the worst area and see how good the metal is then you can go repair it like you planned.

Re: restoring drip rail
i need a lesson on posting, i cant figure it out. the roof is now in paint. what i did was, strip off old vinyl. used putty knife to get most of the foam off. then used belt sander, d.a. and 90 degree sander to strip off the rest. i por 15'd the rusted out areas. then filled the pin holes with a 2 part por 15 expoxy, sanded smooth, light coat bondo. then primed and painted. came out nice.its going to get a new vinyl top, after the paint job, with a chrome molding. should look great.

Re: restoring drip rail
So you want the SHORT CUT to posting pictures? Then click on the MONITOR, then BROWSE to your picture, then OPEN, then HOST IT, then THUMBNAIL, then up to EDIT, then COPY, then click on the MONITOR again to get it out of the way, then do a mouse click to where you want the picture to appear, then back up to EDIT, then PASTE and then PREVIEW to see if you got it right. Do it all over again for more pictures and then hit SEND and you just posted a picture!!!!!

Re: restoring drip rail
the por15 is a anti-rust coating that they use on oceanliners. you paint right over rust, forms a hard coating, its about 60 a quart. can be topcoated. the putty is a 2 part, kinda like j b weld you kneed the 2 together, fill your holes . let dry, can grind, sand, tap. good stuff. it was about 20 bucks for 8'' block. goes a long way. eastwood co. carries it.
