Pop-out rear windows Empty Pop-out rear windows

Post by RobSWD Mon Feb 08, 2010 10:21 am

I'd like to have the pop-out rear windows on my van for the air to pass through on hot days, are they hard to find? If i do find some, is it a straight forward swap? are the seals available? Thanks! Anyone have a pair for sale?

    Robert,
The seals are not reproduced. I have a lot of them most have usable seals that atach to the body but the seal on the frame is brittle and cracked. It's hard to find good seals.

    Hi all,

Same deal for me - I need to change all the rubbers on my van (and soon). The pop-out windows in the rear doors are the only ones that Mac's don't seem to have.

    Does NO-ONE make them?

    Regards,

    Rhys

I've never had them but seem to remember there was a safety issue about these. I think they tended to suck exhaust gases back into the van, but perhaps that was only if the exhaust went out the back. Side exhausts might not be a problem, but carbon minoxide poisoning is nothing to mess around with.

Everything gets sucked out the front windows when you are going down the road, so the exhaust could too,,,,,,maybe prop the rear doors open a little and drive around and see how things smell,,,,,maybe even try one of those testers in there,,,,you need to be safe rather than cool,,,,,,

I have heard (great, more third hand info... Mad ) that the pop outs were for when parked only, not while driving due to the CO issue.
Guess that's why so many roof vents were sold!
