Oldpro Formal Introduction Empty Oldpro Formal Introduction

Post by Oldpro Wed Mar 18, 2009 10:57 am

I'm 17 years old live in Apex, NC, a Jr. at Apex high school and I’m rebuilding a 1966 A-100 custom sportsman in my garage. It’s almost finished, but I hope to have it completed by the end of spring brake. I had been looking for an old van to have as my first car, but didn’t really want a Volkswagen or an Econoline, so my dad and I went searching for a Dodge A-100. Quite by accident, we found it behind an upholstery shop in Durham. We were getting the roof of my dad’s 1989 Merkur XR4TI 3 Door re-upholstered and dad mentioned that I was looking for a Dodge A-100. The guy looked over his shoulder out a window and asked “you think he’ll like that one?” I said hell yea, so we dragged it home (much to the displeasure of our home owners association) and cleaned her up. 3 months and almost $2,000 later, she’s almost road worthy.

Introduction aside, I’ve got a question about this website. Q: If I wanted to upload and share the pictures of my restoration project, where should I do it? I have a lot of pictures in chronological order of what I’ve done so far, and plenty of before and after photos.

You can go over to the home page and start an album under MEMBERS VANS/GALLERY.
The log in is Vintage-Vans, the password is guest. I will start the album for you, and then you can log in to it and edit it and put anything you want in it. It will show up at the very bottom of all the albums for a few days, then it will be up at the top.

Welcome to the site Oldpro. G-Man is right, you're not the only young vanner on here. I got my first when I was sixteen. That was like 3 months ago. Sounds like your van is about ready to go and you'll have a good time driving it. Just a heads up.....high school girls dont like vans. But dont let that stop you. Anyway, welcome the site,

Take it from an old dog, the girls who want you for the vehicle you drive want a wallet and not the person, and if that wallet ever thins, she will be gone. Hold out for the gal who wants you and you will be a happy young man, and with the coolest ride too.

I echo the welcome to the site, happy vanning.

Move your pictures that you want to get rid of into the "Picture Garage" in the gallery... I go through there and clean out the garage every now and then...

O.k. I'll go ahead and do that.
Just to clear some things up about the time it took me to get this van in shape, the 3 months I said it took was just the time I spent working on it, and that time added up to about 3 months. I've had the van for almost 5 months in all. School started back up during the working stages of this project, and it pretty much stopped me from working on it.
