by Guest Sat Feb 16, 2013 10:40 pmI have been having some problems with my lifters ticking, so today I thought I would take them out and have a look at them. However I didn't know that in order to do this you have to remove the head and I didn't find this out until I had the valve cover and rocker shaft removed, so I removed the head. Its taken me all day to get them out as they would not slide out easily at all.
When they were removed they were rock solid and I could not push them down at all even when I tapped the lifter with a hammer and a bar it would not spring in and squirt any oil out of the hole in the side.
When I disassembled them and cleaned them they spring in and out fine but I know they will harden up when oil is in them.
Do you think they would be fine to put back in now they have been cleaned or should I put new ones in? I am thinking they would be fine they show no signs of wear on them.
