found an intact original dash speaker in a yard this past weekend. first one i've ever seen that didn't instantly crumble to dust when i touched it. is hookup to my original AM as simple as 2 connected wires to the speaker and larger black wire from the radio to a hot on the fusebox? are there actually new replacement dash speakers available? thanks folks

there is no real magic to speakers. the technology hasn’t really changed much in the past 75 years. magnet and cone… if you have a precut speaker hole, and can figure out how to rig the mount… you could probably get a 3.5 inch full range speaker back there. 4ohm, two wires to connect +/-

Speaker Placement
What about alternative speaker placement? I kind of don't want to mess with cutting holes in my original good condition door panels so I was thinking of some boxes under the seats. The first time I went to Home Depot after getting my van I loaded some 2x4s and realized if I made an emergency stop, they would slide right under the seat and ram my feet. So I figure I need some blocking there anyway.

6x9's fit nicely in the space under the 'triangle window'.
I would make some type of overhead sound bar like on Jeep Wranglers, low mounted speakers are hard to hear in these vans.
