    Good job!

    those are the same parts that you gave the NAPA numbers for on an earlier post.

    They fit a 65 to 70 C20 3/4 top PU and the C30 1 ton PU.

    They have a 5/8 x 18 thread and are 7.44" long each

    So the way i see it if the drag link is 28" like Don says then you need about a 16" long sleve which will give about 1.5" of each tie rod threaded into it.


    Sleves come in every lenght up to about 60" long.

    So call the MooG guy back and tell him you need a 16" long sleve with .625 X 18 threads both left and right. maybe he can give you an exact fit.

    Scott, would love to but the only ones available are for 2nd gen and the tie rod is 180 degrees from the 1st gen.

    M1d Yeah These are the same , but in a moog number. I've had bad luck with napa suspension parts. I found a place to get nice aluminum rods already threaded, I think this is how I'm going because I need a tie rod also mine is bent Bob

    Bob,

    Do you have the part number for the replacement tie rod ends by chance and where you are getting them?

    I need to replace the tie rod ends and make the replacement drag link also.

    Matt the tie rods are moog es358l and es358r, I got them from rock auto, I'm waiting on my 6061 aluminum tie rod to come in then i will try to post pictures of the whole unit Bob

    The thread sizes are the differences in those tie rods,,,,,the 409 is 11/16",,,,,the 358 is 5/8" and they come in left and right handed types,,,,,seems to me if you got 2 of the R type tie rods,,,,it would be easier to find a pipe with those threads in it or tap new threads in rather than trying to mess with that left hand threaded tie rod,,,,,a sleeve would have a left hand and a right hand thread in it, but it seems it would be easier to deal with 2 right hand threaded tie rods......

    Yeah Doni that's why I went with the 358's one is left and one is right. I bought a race car rod that is 16" long with 5/8 left hand threads in one end and 5/8 right hand on the other. This way I can adjust it in and out to compensate for lowering and make the wheel straight. With the two right threads you would have to take one end of the rod off to adjust it. With a left and right you just loosen the jam nuts and turn the rod. I'm waiting for the rod to show up and then I will post a picture

    The point is left hand threads make things more complicated if you are looking for parts and tools,,,,,nobody needs to ever adjust a drag link link once you set up correctly,,,,,but you have options now on whatever way you decide to go...left, right, or welded........it's all good.......

    Are the tapers different size from the actual tie rods? It is crazy that this ES358L and R is over 2X as much as the ES350L and ES370R which are the tie rod ends. I bought these for $15 each on eBay but the 358s are $40 each.

    The tapers are correct,,,,,the length, thread sizes and type are different,,,,,and prices are all over the place,,,,,like $15 to $60,,,,,,,

    Matt the rod is a 16" tube from any race car shop. I have the unit assembled but , I just finished a 40 work week in three days, I will try to post picture tuesday. As for the 358 r and 358l, I bought them for $25 each from rock auto.

    I bought a few NOS ones, years ago I got them at my GM dealer they were less than 25 bucks New. Years later I bought 7 NOS ones on ebay for 46 bucks, I sold one 2nd gen for 75. One way to tell if it's 1st or 2nd gen is the position of the grease zerts 1sts are usually up or down and 2nds are usually in the ends front or back.

    I've been experimenting. The ES150L and ES150R seem to be good candidates.

    They are 1 ton / 7/8" stud tie-rod ends used in the 80's Dodge W250/W350. The taper is a reasonably good fit, and Moogs are about $30 a piece, less for other brands.

    I shall report back later as I am also waiting to get in an ES2234R, which is another 7/8" stud tie-rod end.

    The numbers of the tie rods I list are a direct fit, just have to buy a race car bar with left and right threads. I think my aluminum bar was like $20

    I just finished this conversion and it looks just like pan58's picture..... Uses Es358 left and right ends and 17"x 5/8 threaded tube from Summit..... Ended up at 27.5" pin-to-pin to center the steering box, which is 1/2" shorter than stock....
