After running into a disagreement with a bleeder screw, I went shopping for rear wheel cylinders on the 69 A. The 2 that exist in this state through my local auto parts store are 48$ apiece, Ona whim I had them look up wheel cylinders for a 69 D100, 9 $ apiece. Okay my question is this will the slightly larger bore of the D100 cyl make a beans worth of difference in the function of the brakes. The stock is 13/16's" these must be at least 7/8". other than that I cant see a difference.

Re: Wheel Cylinders
Joe... I replaced my 13/16" with 15/16" on the '68 van and haven't had any problems. Here are the numbers I have for the right ones for $10 each. I got mine from napa about a year ago, took about a week for them to come from there out of state warehouse. The lines were a real "muther" to tighten, I think I ended up using a wrench from my ignition wrench set to bleed them.

Re: Wheel Cylinders
I bet the parts jockey looked at you like you were crazy to even think about rebuilding them.

Re: Wheel Cylinders
If a person was worried about being"stock" and that 48 $ is real it would definately be worth not tossing them if they could just be honed out. I've got a stash of NOS rubber cups for small cylinders like that is the only reason I even thought about it.

Re: Wheel Cylinders
Normally the bigger bore needs less pressure to stop them,,,,,and the size of the shoes and drums also affect the stopping distance,,,,,as well as what the other axle size wheel cylinders are,,,,,,,,so lots of variables,,,,,,,the front brakes are set up to do about 60% of the stopping,,,,,about the only way to see how the bigger bore ones work is try them and see if that axle's brakes lock up on hard stops or the other ones do,,,,,,,,i

They are about $50 here as well, I've priced them recently. A rebuild kit is about $7, I ended up honing mine but the nipple wasn't stripped either, just gunked up on the inside.
