The simple test would be to turn the headlights on,,,,,,,,if they don't come on,,,,,,you probably got a drain on the system, and the battery ran down,,,,,,,,if the headlights stay bright when you try and start the engine,,,,,,,you have a starter problem,,,,,,,but best test is to put a voltmeter on the battery and see what the voltage is and does when you try and start it ,,,,,,,,

charge the battery, then start the engine. while engine is running, remove the negative cable from the battery. If the engine dies, you have a charging problem, either your alternator or wiring is at fault.

i found the issue last Friday it was a ground wire that was touching the body sucking the juice out of the battery! she fires up now.

but yesterday i started her up and the GEN light is on now. i have a bunch of little things to work out of it but slowly it will come together!

Well, a ground wire is supposed to touch the body,,,,,,if you have a voltmeter, you can see if the system is charging,,,,,,,that light being on means the alternator is not charging,,,,or the regulator or wiring is bad.......

A good way to check if the alernator is working is to tuch the rear bearing with a screwdriver. If it is charging there will be a magnetic draw on the metal screwdriver. Works with all alternators!
