I was wondering if anyone knew if 67 and up door locks will work on a 66? They look different to me

Re: 67 door locks on a 66?
I don't have exact, direct knowledge on this.
IIRC, the 66 and earlier are more of a volcano, where the 67 later are more of a mesa. I think I read the earlier ones are not easily rekeyed.
There is a NAPA number for a pair of locks ECH DLK30, 24 bucks and change.
This is the later style.

Yep RodStRace, thats what I thought. I also heard the same thing about re-keying the 66 ones.
I found a set for a 67+ (same ones), so I was hoping that someone had already figured out if they would work...before I rip it all apart.

Re: 67 door locks on a 66?
Should work I swapped a door on my 65 with a 68 door and guts just changed the lock cylinder. I used the 65s clip that holds the cylinder in place too. Hope this helps.

Just to clarify, if I do a complete swap (cylinders and all) I should be good?

interesting question my locks on the 66 are messed up but would like to be able to use one key for ignition and locks, other than re-key from locksmith i doubt there is a source for a set.

Re: 67 door locks on a 66?
I just purchased two pair of locks for my 1967 Sportsman, I got them from RockAuto.com, they cost me about $17.00 for two locks and they fit great. Compare that price, to getting them from a local locksmith who estimated them at $76.00 each. They are simple to install, I am going to get them keyed so that all four locks work with the same key. The ignition, with have a separate key.

Re: 67 door locks on a 66?
Oops, I didnt make sense there! All the internal important stuff is the same. No mods needed. My door was stoved real good (65), swapped with a good one (68). All I did was change the lock cylinder. 65 cylander on a 68 door. Thats on the barn doors, Im not positive on the front doors, but should be the same.SIN BIN wrote:benwah wrote:Should work I swapped a door on my 65 with a 68 door and guts just changed the lock cylinder.
