Hello, anyone know of an off the shelf set of tubular headers that fits straight on an A van ? I've seen loads that fit the poly 318 but I've just had a quick look with the torch and I can see the engine mounts being an issue. Cheers. Simon.

Re: A100 headers ?
d-series half ton should be very close to the same both 2wd and 4wd.
jegs part # 30082
dynomax part # 2285032
either one "should" have little to no clearance issues.

Re: A100 headers ?
The motor mounts are in the same position of all V8s, so aside from the shift linkage for the 3 speed, there really is a lot more room in the 'A's than any car.
Most any header should fit, except fenderwell headers.
I have 2 pairs that do, one that came on it another set of Hookers that are for a truck. Block hugger headers should work too.
Headers have to clear the engine, mounts, starter and transmission. They also have to have enough ground clearance. Aside from that, they have to clear the specfic vehicle, and the 'A's have hardly any stuff in the way. No crossmember, no torsion bars, more doghouse space than car fenderwells, and wider rails. There also isn't an angled firewall and floor near as close.

Re: A100 headers ?
Try Clifford performance. They have headers that will fit your A100.

Summit Racing Block Hugger Headers, PN# SUM-G9064:
Link to Summit.
Go ahead and get a header wrap kit while you're at it.
These headers and wrap are on my to-do list for my A-100, mostly for heat management. I'm going to be extremely careful though, I'm worried about the 45 year old manifold bolts breaking. I don't really want to do a top-end if I don't have to

Re: A100 headers ?
Soak once a week for a while before you need to remove.
Kroil, PB blaster or some rust buster.
Better to run some heat cycles too, if possible.

Re: A100 headers ?
I would think long and hard before getting header wrap. Instead get the headers Jet Hot coated. your headers will last a lot longer and run a lot cooler. headers run at 900 degrees but with jet hot coating they run around 500 degrees.slowflapper wrote:Summit Racing Block Hugger Headers, PN# SUM-G9064:

Re: A100 headers ?
Not now. a few years ago they were around $180.00 for two headers for my 347 stroker.. They are triple coated inside and out. It is what the military uses on jets, tanks etc. Looks really good too. Google Jet Hot Coatings for more info. I used it on Vanishing Breed and was extremely happy with them.. You will have to send your header to them and it is about a two week turn around time.

Re: A100 headers ?
If you are planning on a custom header or any mods to a /6, I'd suggest reading up on it.

plus all the links should give you a lot better idea what works and what doesn't...

Re: A100 headers ?
Thanks for all the replies (its been a while since I've logged in) I stopped getting the e-mail notices. Anyhows I used headman headers as they were the only ones available on ebay located in england. I used factory manifold gray, which fell off pretty quickly.
