Gotta boast about my grandson

I just want to brag a little about my 6 year old grandson. He has been taking Tae Kwon Do and Hapkido lessons and today tested for his first belt which he passed. He had to spar with a teen aged black belt and did very well. He also broke his first boards, half inch thick pine. The first one with edge of his hand and the second one with his fist. He is the youngest kid in his class since the rest are 8-12 years old. He is four feet tall and weighs 75 pounds in kindergarten right now. I couldn't be more proud of him.

I have eight grandkids but this one is the only one that has wanted to take martial arts lessons. I started at his age but I took Akido from my father who was a grand master. Later I took Kenpo from the great Grand master Ed Parker. Elvis Presley, Raquel Welch and Sophia Loren took lessons from Ed Parker at the same time I did. I worked my way up to instructor( black belt 3rd dan) and taught in one of Master Parkers dojos. I also took Tae Kwon Do lessons from a Korean Tiger Grand master.

the hardest thing is to keep him in it ..I had my son in it till all his buddys played football then he lost intrest, my mistake letting my son give it up to play football !!! althou he is in college playing baseball now. Mike keep him in it as you know it will pay off later. plus i love the disapline they teach...( you should be proud )

I just enrolled my grandson in a black belt course at a cost of $2800.00 so that means the work on the van will slow down a bit. His Sensei told me that most students take 3-4 years to earn their black belts but he said Ethan is so very strong, very smart and has such tremendous energy he expects him to attain his black belt in 24-30 months at the most which will make him an 8 year old black belt. He wants him to start competing in tournaments in four months. He is adding Akido and weight training to his Tae Kwon Do and Hapkido training. Later we will add Tai Chi, Muay Tai, Brazilian Jujitsu and Chinese Kenpo to his training. I am getting started on building a complete gym for him on the side of my house that will have mats. heavy body bag, speed bag, weights, treadmill, stepper,universal gym., stationary bike etc.
