Rosalita, up and running Empty Rosalita, up and running

here's some newer photos. i drove my van to work today for the first time and was very excited.

on the way home, however, i heard a strange noise and pulled over to investigate. the red wire poppped off the battery and she died. alternator was out.

so, i called auto zone, figured out it'd only be about 60 bucks, and proceeded to pull half the engine compartment off and pulled out the alternator.

i've never done ANYTHING like this... so i'm pretty proud of myself.

and here's a gratuitous shot of the engine, so you can see how filthy it is.

i forgot to snap photos after i put the new alternator on, so you'll have to imagine what it would look like if it were shiny and happy instead of oily and nasty.

so far, she's been running quite a bit better.

    cheers.

Hey congrats! Glad to hear you were able to take care of her yourself and get back home. Not a bad place to breakdown either.

i told you that driving one of these will make you a mechanic and you'll get to know that van really wel. but once you get her fixed up with all the little things, she'll probably run forever....

thats probably why there was 5 batteries in it when you bought it, the alt. was probably bad for awhile now. give yourself a pat on the back....

yeah, i had to get a jump while sitting on the street... but i made it home alright.

as soon as i got home i pulled the red cable and it died right away.

and james, as long as you approve that's all i need.. i don't need a pat on the back.

    thanks!

i dont approve of you driving your van with a gas leak but i know you are excited so be careful and try to get that fixed this weekend. but on the other hand, if you go up in flames, try to save your good eye from the fire cause you owe me....

i've been keeping the level below where the leak is and it's been alright.

one of my new clients is a mechanic and he said he can help me with the majority of my described problems.

hopefully we'll be fully operational here, momentarily.

Good to see another Campwagon on the road again. I finally got mine registered today (4 hrs at DMV). It felt so good to know it's registered and insured. Some cheap seat covers to hide what's beneath, and a rug to hide the condition of the floor up front should allow me to have it inspected for the weekend! I can't wait to take it for a ride! I should have had this done a month ago. I'll take some pics soon. Looks like we're at the same empty camper stage. Best of luck with Rosalita!
