So brilliant me decided to try to tweak the dipstick a little bit. There was the silent but sickening feeling of "no resistance" after what I thought was a very gentle bit of persuasion. 
So does anyone know of a good way to get the remainder of the tube out of the block? I am asking this before I try something that may not work anyway, In my initial attempt I have already turned what was left of the tube into a gob of folded metal about flush with the top of the hole. One thing in my favor at this point is with no doghouse it is staring me in the face. Just trying to avoid dropping the pan (last resort).
