On my '67 108 van, the dipstick tube is not secured to the V8 283 motor. It can swivel and even be pulled out.
About halfway up the dipstick tube is a metal bracket welded to it, but it doesn't seem to match up with anything on the motor (and it actually can't be adjusted to touch the motor case anyway).
I am wondering if perhaps there is another missing bracket that would have mated with the dipstick tube bracket. I can probably fab up something that will do the job, but I am wondering if anyone out here has a V8 equipped 67 or 68 van, and if they could photograph or describe the way the dipstick tube is secured to the motor case.
Thanks!
