Oil Filter for 200 CID Empty Oil Filter for 200 CID

    Hey Everyone,

Im new to the site and have a ton of questions but to start off I need to know what oil filter (size) I should be putting on my 61 Econoline P/U.

A buddy of mine who has been helping me work on the truck put one on and when I was driving it yesterday the rubber seal managed to blow out.... oil everywhere now and I'm thinking that the size of the oil filter was not correct.

Anyone have an answer for me. I have a Fram in it now and know I can access that make here in Canada.

    Cheers,
    Andre

If you don't check and the old gasket is still on the housing, it will blow out after you put a new filter and gasket on it.

Welcome from Saskatoon, Andre! Not at home right now to tell you the size, but it's pretty basic... Any parts store will have them (napa, PartSource, CanTire), but they will have to look the engine size up on their computer. Yeah, make sure the sealing surface for the oil filter is clean of the old gasket before installing the new one.

Are you sure you have a 200? If it's the original engine, 200s weren't available until 63 (?), just 144s and 170s. Same block, 3 freeze plugs on a 144, 5 on 170s and 200s. So if that's the case, you might have to pretend you have a 64 Econoline with a 200 I6 for these parts guys to find your engine (wouldn't show up in their systems for a 61).

    Good luck!
