They are illegal in some states..........but I find the purple glow........psychedelic.

I like them. If nothing else, they just give off an Old School vibe.

My '66 had them when I got it, but the plastic was cracked from when they drilled the hole. I replaced them so I'd have less of a chance of being pulled over.

i got them on the 64, i think they're cool looking, love the purple glow

blue dots are illegal in my area too. i wonder why?

i dig 'em too, but i'm one of those collect-y types... i couldn't drill my tail lights without another factory set laying around!

Not sure what it's like in the USA, but over here, all the chavs in their pimped up POS ricers have blue LEDs in their headlights, wiper washers. etc.
It's quite handy, as you can spot an idiot coming a mile off.

And yep.........the law is "extreme" in some areas over the "exact shade of RED" your tail lights are. In Ohio, steering wheel knobs are illegal but blue dots are OK.........hmmmmmmmmm........

Too many politicians... with too much free time on their hands..... passing vague & senseless laws..... instead of doing the work we hired them to do!

I have 'em on my street rod & even with the brite filament of the 1157 bulb positioned correctly on the dot my buddies said they couldn't see my brake lites on a sunny day. They look too cool at night and i like that 'ol school look so I installed a L.E.D 3rd brake lite.

in CT "any lighting not factory" they can pull you over for
i have had blue dots on this early since i built it in 01'
and never been pulled over for them
i did have 2 LED license plate bolt lights
that were on for only a day and i got pulled over
i pulled the wire to em and the cop still gave me a written warning for the plate bolt lights.. but said nothing about the blue dots...
go figure

My latest van came with blue dot headlights from the previous owner that are halogen.

illegal here also.... then again my local pd is comprised of 3 officers and the chief (all car guys) ... hot rodders are granted a little leaniency here!!!
personally i absolutly love the look, but then again my image of "the perfect hot rod" is our police chiefs 27 t bucket... flat black, multi carbed with wide whites, zoomies, and 50 pontiac tail lights sporting blue dots!!!!
