Found a pretty solid California A100 pickup...64 with original paint, 6 cyl. 3 speed. The owner has all of the replacement glass, seats, wipers and bezels so that really helps. Shipping arrangements have been made, just waiting for the pick up date. With the shipping, the budget went over just a little but I feel alot better about this truck than many of the other trucks here in the midwest. If anythingI've found some parts trucks

My wife and I are lucky to have a few friends in Cali to handle the payment arrangements otherwise I probably wouldn't have been able to do this....too many scammers. I sent a small deposit via paypal and the remaining cash will be handed over upon loading

also...thanks to itruns for consultation, great guy right there

Well, here she is as she sits in Cali waitung for pick up

Well you know how OCD can be HA...

As I believe I stated in a previous "rant" I have searched and offered a finders fee for anything of any interest and I've pretty much every POS A100 truck in a 200 mile radius...and 1 Ford that was believed to be a Dodge

Here are somepics and prices if anyone is interested

A guy can get this for a few hundred bucks in Fortville Indiana...they just want it gone
    Couldn't pass it up Picture001

    $1500 also in Fortville Indiana
    Couldn't pass it up Picture002

    $3250 (wow) in Sharpsville Inidiana

    $800 Kentucky

    $500 Mecca Indiana

    Couldn't pass it up A-100004

I searched every corner of the internet until I found an old old listing on an oddball site. I called the guy and surprisingly he still he had it...I was the only one to have ever called about it since it was an oddball site. The bad thing was that the truck was 2200 miles away. After days of talking we were finally able to agree on a final price that had gone back and forth several times and I was able to get a decent shipping quote to make this all possible.

The seller sent plenty of pics and while it does have a few areas that need attention, I feel that it's something I can handle without having to shell out alot of cash to repair. The worst area is the right rear bed corner...has a few holes but I don't see welding in a new corner as being a problem. Also has a few rusty bed supports but he is including replacements that I can weld in.

So at this point I'm pretty excited but being patient...just waiting...OH THE WAITING AAAAHHHHHH!!

He was telling me that this thing still has an original California "Pink Slip" and if at all possible, I should really seek a way to try to hold onto it since it's pretty rare to get one...

Nice score! Looks solid ,Shipping seems exspensive but in the long run to get a rig like that it's really pretty cheap. Can't wait to see more pics when it arrives. Bill

that sounds like a good price - dont know anything about the company - i have used dependable auto shippers - i kind of doubt they will have a better price but they did have good service - guys here and at vcvc have used kiwi carriers also - oo3

yea, ya know I saw that last night. But after searching many carriers on that site I found it hard to find alot of companies that didn't have some hard stikes against them. They have only been on the site for a few months so I'm not sure if that would make any difference or not.

    Heres an example...

Dependable Auto shippers have been on the site for 6 years...alot of hard strikes, but just enough good ones to give them 2 stars

    http://www.transportreviews.com/company/dependable-auto-shippers.asp

I'm not discounting the advice you have given and I gladly accept it...I know someone that used to work for United and he said they were great so that's what I based my decision on. There was actually one company that was cheaper by about $50 but their rating made me really nervous. I do have plenty of time to move the truck so if it doesn't pan out with United, I'll move on to the next hauler.

    Thank you for your advice.

Looks like a good unmolested pickup and its a 5 window!! Nice score. Shop around for auto carriers, the cheapest doesnt mean the best option, make sure the carrier has some kinda insurance to cover any dammage, falls off the truck ect... Ive seen nice vintage rides really damaged due to the driver's ignorance. Also have the seller or your friend in the area video or take pictures documenting everything while loading. Ive had a bad experiance with a shody transport service, so pictures and or video covers the sellers and buyers butt. Enjoy your new ride Very Happy

I made sure that he had the mossing one on there before it shipped.

I can ask about the window A100 if you want...remember 2000 miles away

The Magnum bug hit my wife and I pretty hard about 2 years ago which lead to the 2 that we have now. Whenever you get serious about wanting one let me know...We have friends all over the country with these things and from time to time a smoking deal will pop up.

Truck arrived friday right on time. Cranks over and gave a few "poofs" with some fuel down the carb. Tomorrow I'll put in some fresh oil and run a compression check to see if the motor will live. I also have the fuel tank out to be drooped at the radiator shop for a flush.

A lotof little items that I'm going to need...

    All new window rubbers
seat mounts...not sure what they look like but pretty sure I can make'm.
    Heater control dash mount
    doghouse insulation
    right front turn lens
    rear turn lenses
rubber hose from tank to filler neck
    And on and on

A few last pics before I start a thread on the rebuild....
