Re: Digz's 65 panel
Really looking good Digz !!!!!!!!!!!! I like the change of color in the instrument panel. I've never had a 1st gen instrument panel out. Are they hard to take apart?

Re: Digz's 65 panel
I've got Glass !!! About 6 months ago Mike from Howard City Auto glass made a template, it has taken me this long to get ready for the install. Originally was thinking maybe a bronze tint, but it didnt work out for him without buying a full sheet of the stuff, and Im sort of glad after thinking about it more. This is a No-Gasket installation.
glass is taped and prepped with primer
molding is applied with another layer of urethane
after setting it they work it into place
It gets taped to keep it from settling down.
lower right corner
There was some concern over the interior line , but it looks to me like a little trimming with a razor blade will dress it up.
I'm liking it .
One more thing off what seems to be a very long but growing shorter list.

Re: Digz's 65 panel
I did the same switch on my 1984 CJ7 a few years back. Never even crossed my mind to do it with the van.
Joe, It looks great! How much larger did they have to cut the glass?

Re: Digz's 65 panel
Bill, Its some brackets and seats away from actually driving it, 1 side cargo door away from ready for paint, 1 engine cover away from going deaf ! And some tweaking on the brakes away from stopping it in "good order". Of course there is that annoying list of things like, a couple door seals, Hinge grommets, window channels and fuzzies ( on order from Wookee), some turn outs on the glass packs,,, etc... Ya know what I mean,,
Its a little hindsight now but I think One might have come up with some kind of slip on trim for the interior edge of the windshield before it goes in. Oh well ,maybe on the next one,,
Chris , I think it should work okay? I cant believe there is enough racking in the nose section to break a seal with the stuff they use now, could even widen the flange it seats on maybe if someone was starting from scratch. See how it works out, doesnt hurt to experiment.
Dan,, Mike did a tracing of the opening then added about 3/8" around it. It looked like it could have been a wee bit wider at the center, The upper corners were maybe a smidge tight, just enough to make it harder to center, so if you have it done I would say take extra care at the corners when the glass is cut. My glass was cut off site, I bet an in-house ( at the glass shop) job would be best.

Re: Digz's 65 panel
That windshield looks good , your van looks great, I sold my 57 convertible, now I have to get it out of the barn. Did you ever do anything with that tinted glass with the wrong gasket on it? This one...
I can't get the barn doors open yet (frozen).
