problems with wiper wireing Empty problems with wiper wireing

    Post by m1dadio Mon Aug 24, 2009 11:02 pm

I have loocked at the availible wireing schematics and nothing seems to match my van
I have a 65 chevyvan. a two position wiper switch which has a push button in the midle.

I an guessing I have a two speed motor, I have never turned it on and some of the wires were not conected when I looked at it.

The motor has the yellow wire going to it from the fuse. The wiper switch has a two wire plug with one wire going to the motor and a dark blue wire going nowhere also a single black wire plug going back to the motor.three terminals total.
Is this a two speed switch?
What is the push button feature on the switch suposed to do?

there is also an electric washer pump not conected to anything. Does the factory wiper switch with three terninals also control the washer pump or is there a seperate switch for that?

If you have rubber hoses or nipples on the wiper motor it has the pump built onto it. My 65 has 2 wires on the motor, a hot one from the fuse box and a 1 wire switch which the ground leg runs through,,,,,,

So has anybody ever come across one of the single speed with washer SW?? All the ones I have seen are ether 1 speed(1 wire) or 2 speed W washers (3 wire SW) I just put a 2 speed Sw(W/washers) & 2nd gen motor in my 65 from CA, it had a single speed harness & no washers on van. I used a 3 wire SW, used 2 wires,on the 2 outside pins on SW. The middel pin on SW is for washers.
