My van has the straight six and I was just wondering if it is normal for it to slant down and back. Its sitting at probably a 10 to 15 degree angle. I know the engine is not original, so I thought maybe when it was done somebody changed the mounts or something.

Re: Stock engine question
Check the angle of the top of the carb compared to the "level" angle of the doghouse opening. If you look at an engine that is out, the intake manifold is angled in a way to make up for this rearward slope. The engines are all lower in the rear, but you might have something out of whack like a bad or badly homemade trans mount.

Re: Stock engine question
Alright. How come that doesnt affect different engines, like when a V8 swap is done? Or does it and its just not bad enough to be a big deal?

Re: Stock engine question
The 6's look like they are sitting on a pretty radical angle, mostly because of the longer rocker cover.
the intakes make up for most of it, but the float levels in the carb bowls operate in such a small area it would have to be real off to make a big difference, that varies by carb make tho, probably more so on 4 barrels.

Re: Stock engine question
Alright, I'm feeling better about the angle on my engine now..
A wise man in a red van suggested I level from the bottom of the transmission pan.
