Most carbs have a "sintered bronze" filter pushed against the fuel inlet nut by a spring that allows bypass when it clogs.... It is behind the large nut where the fuel line screws in.... You don't replace it, but clean it with carb spray cleaner.... BTW... use a wrench to hold the large nut while loosening or tightening the fuel line...
I do not recommend any inline filter between the fuel pump and the carb and actually favor a metal line between the two to prevent the possibility of a leaking hose spraying on the exhaust... I prefer an aftermarket Mercruiser style spin-on filter and housing mounted before the pump.... They are very small micron filtering and have huge capacity so they rarely clog and don't let even particles of rust or dirt get through...
Here is a kit available from Amazon and you can replace the filter later with a name-brand...
Yes!.... If you google that number it will show pictures of the sintered bronze filter and some paper and screen replacements..... Best to stick with the sintered bronze units.....The cup side with the spike in the middle goes against the inlet nut and the other end with the small hole has the spring push against it...
