    Crossmember 68 G10 Empty Crossmember 68 G10

Post by ArrGee Mon Apr 17, 2023 8:40 am

hey guys, working on an old G10 90 and will be putting a 250 6cyl in it.
I'm looking for an engine crossmember.
are they somewhat universal, can one from something else work ?

I plan on putting an overdrive automatic trans in it, any comments / thoughts appreciated.

    thanks

I have a factory engine crossmember I could part with, but you'd need the triangular wedges from the side of a six that locate to the three-bolt mounts that also bolt directly to a v8....
I'm in AZ though, so shipping might make mine too expensive....
I sincerely doubt that six-specific crossmembers are offered....
I used a Trans-Dapt tubular crossmember in my van, available from Jegs, Summit or Speedway and probably also at Amazon.....And you7 will need to do some fab work....

For the engine as long as you have the same generation cross member as the van then they are all work regardless of engine type. If you PM your email address - I can send you the parts book drawing showing the mounting details with the engine triangle wedges/brackets as AzDon has pointed out.

wow, that is helpful. not sure about the quality of my fabrication work though.
maybe it's time to step up my game. lol.
I have seen those aftermarket units online, I wondered if they are as strong as the original crossmember.

    thank you

I think all of the engine crossmembers are the same for both generations, but you will still need to fab something to hold up the tail of any transmission that isn't specifically from a first or second gen van....There were (are) hanging mounts for powerglides and t350s, but they are extremely rare...
If you want to measure the spacing of the four bolt holes in the chassis that the crossmember bolted to I can measure this crossmember to confirm fitment either way...
