Rear Door Handle Retaining Clip... Empty Rear Door Handle Retaining Clip...

    Post by DanTheVanMan September 14th 2021, 13:48

OK, folks.... Got a question. Not a stupid one, but a frustrating one...

Just swapped out the rear doors on the 65. The right inside panel access hole had been cut sometime in the past and made it easy to get to the retaining clip for the handle assy. So it came apart rather easily. My issue now is the new (used) door had no handle or lock and although it was easy removing from the old door, I simple can not get the clip back on the new door with the tiny factory access hole! I can get close everytime, but can not seem to get the clip back on...

Is there a trick to doing this? Or to I need to find an anorexic midget to lend me a hand? lol

To hold the pieces together, you can use longer bolts and you can deal with the clip and slide it back together and snap the handle back in.

Put the clip on the chrome piece then install to door, the handle will push in last into the clip.
