Sorry, I meant the back door. It is the outside handle only. I broke it off. It appears to have two roll pins connecting the chrome handle to a square shaft inside. They appear to be connected with only about a #10 sized pin.

    Thank You!

I got some, no where near mint ,but better than a broke one.
Most outside handles (side & back doors)have a clip holding them into the escutcheon.
Maybe Don will post some of his info pics to show in depth (inside of door0 of how it comes out

,,,,,,might as well talk about handles, since they are starting to hand out $1000 tickets if they catch you outside,,,,,

So lets get started,,,,,the handle is held in by a clip, which usually breaks and falls down into the bottom of the door,,,,,do you think something is broken or just missing?

It is broked right in the the groove for the clip goes. It has roll pins on either side of the groove and a shaft in the center that looks to be about 3/16" in diameter. I have removed the roll pins and am considering welding it up an grinding a new groove back in place for the clip. This handle is otherwise in great shape.

    BTW: Good photos!

    Thank You!

Well,,,,,that shaft is 7/16" and the square is 5/16"....its all 1 piece,,,,so maybe someone tried to repair yours or tried to modify another type to fit,,,,,no way that shaft can break,,,,everything in the door will go before it,,,,does the door open if you stick a screwdriver in there showing that the lock and door rods inside are there and working?

Savage might have the answer,,,,,if you look at both the 1st and 2nd gen handle set ups, you see the 2nd gen has a stop and a wall inside the handle,,,,,now if someone tried to put the longer shaft 2nd Gen handle on a 1st Gen door, they would have to shorten the shaft,,,,,is that what you see?  so I dont have to keep typing,,,,someone tell us why are those 2 handles made different,,,,,,,,

It is the short one. The latch meninism works well. Someone must have repaired this one in the past.

    Thanks for your input!

Rewelded where it broke at the clip slot. I ignored the roll pins and welded, then reground in the slot. Works like a champ!
    Thanks All.
