A100 rear bumper? Empty A100 rear bumper?

    Post by 69 Tue Oct 23, 2018 12:08 pm

Although the parts book offers only chromed / non-chromed bumpers for the A100, I'm not quite sure about this.

There is a dual license plate lamp, mounted directly at both sides of the plate, in the bumper.
And there's my truck, which has a single license plate light, mounted directly on the rear sheet metal (inside a properly recessed area) - it even has the right nylon thingies where you mount the plate.

Does anyone have some more insight on the rear bumper options?
My dealer brochures do not offer any help, as well...

    Thanks, guys.

That's the two plate light version you have, right?

I have a cut&weld-piece of shit, but the one plate light.... The light is right above my plate and that piece looks absolutely factory made.

That must be a custom bumper, I have never seen one of those before.

Dodge made two American versions of bumpers, painted was a rough finish, and the chrome version which was a lot smoother as it was destined to be chromed. Mine were chrome from the factory.

Something unique to Europe? I have never seen a plate mounted to the body before either, unless it was custom.

I do like the look of your set up.

There was only the Fargo for Canada, IIRC, no model for Europe.

My current bumper is obviously custom cut and weld, and although I like the look with the plate mounted to the body (as I wrote, that looks pretty factory to me, but I have not found any pic to support that thought), I do not like the look of my bumper in detail. The outer pieces almost look like a guard rail from the Autobahn....

Although really not the best pic, but it does not look right.... (yesss, we have a couple nice classic mopars over here Smile )

Yes I agree the bumper does look "clunky" from a distance.

before I installed my newly rechromed bumper. the opening is there and factory. I believe the pickups all had it as they might have been sold without a rear bumper from the factory. therefore a place to mount the plate was needed. I have a NOS unpainted rear bumper in the shop but there was a person interested in it. if they don't contact me again soon i'll be posting it here for sale soon.

My 65 has the wrap around utility bumper; not the most attractive thing but it was in decent shape so I painted it white and used it. I did cut of the parts that wrapped around the rear corners so it looks better.

I heard that Econoline & early Ford Bronco bumpers will fit. Does anyone know if that's right?

Actually, with the greater popularity of the early Broncos I was told they were readily available. I just haven't looked into it as I didn't know if it was worthwhile
