The small things Empty The small things

Sometimes the smallest things in life bring the most joy.

Today the weather warmed and I was able to spend some time in the garage working on the van.  All I did was mount a custom shifter knob but I swear it made my week much better than it had been. Looking at the shifter knob it probably gave me a smile as big as if I had rebuilt the entire front end.

Ebay... It's a Cal Custom P/N 2132. The seller is sheldonsmi, keep an eye on what he sells if you want one as he has had more than one in the past. He also has lots of other style vintage Cal Custom shifter knobs. Here is one that he just listed.

All I did was take the wood off and give the two pieces of wood two coats of clear polyurethane to make the wood glossy and protect it. Then I drilled out the hole in the metal part with a 17/32 inch drill. Mark the drill so that you all most bottom out but not quite. Put it on the shifter and tighten the allen screw. It seems plenty solid but if need be you could drill and tap it for a second set screw.

It was just great to be back working on the van, I can't stand working in a cold garage so I don't. Can't wait for spring time I have lots of ideas that I want to do to her.
