When my 68 G-20 had the 307 stock motor it had spin on filter.
It was stock as far as I know(came from Mark(108VanGuty) from CA as a Vanataner

You got the old type canister oil filter,,,,,its just the cartridge that fits in a can,has a big O-ring for the engine end, maybe a washer for the bolt,,,,,,,,,like Studebakers used,,,,,,they they got rid of that type and converted over to spin on type,,,,,,so whats your question,,,they cant figure out what to order?    Its an AC Delco PF 141,,,,have them do a crossover search of that number and you will see what Fram, Purulator, Hastings  and all other companys call that filter,,,,,

Pf-141 or Napa 1143 or double price of standard filter.

So, Whit is the best ? Keep the original one or buy the adapter and put spin-On filter?

One is better than other ? May be easier change spin-on ! Not easy Whit original to have no oil drop anywhere Sad.

If I had a van,,,,,,I would surely stock up on these $5 Fram filters from RockAuto,,,,,,,you can do whatever you want to our vans,,,,,,have a shop do it,,,,,,whats the interval,,,6000 miles,,,,,,with Canadian winters,,,,whats that,,,,,,3 years,,,,,,,that big O ring sure seems to cause people problems,,,,,,some people say they have to pull the bypass valve off to get it out,,,no wonder they started building engines with the spin on filter,,,,,,,,Corvettes use that same filter,,,,,,and boy,,,,,they sure rip them guys off for that filter,,,,,,

Of course if you hurry,,,,,,you can get this AC filter and brag that you got a Corvette oil filter on your van,,,,,,but if its been sitting in that box for 50 years,,,,,it will probably fall apart and plug up your oil passages and burn up your engine,,,,

Canister or spin-On, its the same result ? same filtration ?

I change oïl 1 Time by 2 years. Not a big problem . I make about 2-3000 miles per years.

And i didnt see oil link by the oil filter , so not a problem !

They both do the same thing,,,,,they just figured out how to make it easier to change and less likely to leak when they invented the spin on,,,,,,,,,I would have to say those cartridges will be getting harder to find and more expensive in the future,,,,,,just have a plan on where to buy that adapter when you finally need one,,,,,

its what that big bolt screws into in the engine,,,,,its what the top of the filter presses against,,,,,probably held  onto the engine with two bolts,,,,,,
